self-respect

Hey, all you foxy ladies!

What does self-respect mean to you? If you browse the various state branches of GWSR, you'll see that each page lists different ideals that equal "self-respect". What does it mean to you, and why is it so important?

to me, self respect is basically taking care of myself and maintaining my morals
not doing drugs or drinking is a major part of this
as well as "not putting out" or dressing provacatively
i want to be taken serious and i think its hard to be taken serious when your cooch is hanging out like Britney Spears's or something. I'm a firm believer that you don't have to sleep around to be liked.

another thing about respecting yourself is being comfortable with who you are, what you look like
no matter what size or shape you are
never pretending to be something you arent and staying true

Well, to me, self-respect is taking care of myself. It's also presenting myself in such a manner to others, that not only do others see that I have respect for myself, but that they see God in my every action. I'm a Southern Baptisit and I'm doing my best to live my life for God. Which in my own definition is self-respect. I also strongly believe that to have respect for others, one must have respect for themselves. I'm also straight edge, which helps. I'm staying true to myself by not drinking, doing any drugs, or having sex with random boys, or my boyfriend.

But, mainly:
Self-respect to me is being who God created me to be and following Him.

God didn't create every girl by hand and make her every feature special just so she could go and waste it on things that destroy who she is. God knows every girl is beautiful. He made us that way.

To me, self respect is staying true to myself.
I don't do anything that I'm not comfortable with,
and I don't do anything to intentionally harm myself.

SELF RESPECT:
Not whoring myself out for some hormonal guy.
Not screwing my head up with drugs.
Not smokeing and ruining my lungs.
Not Drinking and becoming a depressed wastoid.
basically keeping myself in full control of my future safely.

self-respect to me means that i have control over what i do to my body.
i am in NO WAY straight edge, i'm not even a christian. i do what i want, and having self-respect is being able to do that and still having respect for myself and for others.
i like to have fun with my friends. i go out to parties, and i just live my life to the fullest, but i will not have sex until i'm ready and for sure that i am in love with the boy. i will not have sex with a random guy just to get off. i'm not going to put myself out there like that.
gwsr isn't just for straight edge girls, partying doesn't mean that i'm out having sex, drinking, and smoking. it may be there but i can control myself.

Self Respect is being comfortable with myself, not opening my leg for any random person even if they "love" you, not smoking and drinking doing god-knows what with myself, dressing with respect and not doing drugs
